PreK-3 Program Overview

Our Lady of Mercy School offers an enriching Pre-Kindergarten program for children who will be three years old by September 1. The central goal of the program is to cultivate and foster the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, creative, and social development of each child in a faith-filled, engaging, and nurturing setting. Our program follows the academic standards of the Archdiocese of Washington.

Children learn by engaging with interactive learning materials and participating in activities throughout the day. Language development, literacy, and math skills will be highlighted during daily circle time and learning centers. Emphasis is placed on letter recognition and formation, reading comprehension, sorting activities, and number concepts. Additionally, special area teachers complement the Pre-Kindergarten program and introduce skills in physical education, computer technology, music, library/media and Spanish. Field trips, holiday celebrations, and multicultural activities will be planned to strengthen and extend the students’ learning experience.
