3-Time National Blue Ribbon School
Our selection in 2020 was Mercy's 3rd National Blue Ribbon award! We are proud to be the only elementary school in the state of Maryland, public or private, to achieve the distinction of being selected for this award three times. Recognized as an “Exemplary High Performing School” the award “affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.” Student achievement at Mercy is among the highest in the country.
Our Lady of Mercy School was first recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for Excellence in 1999, and for the second time in the fall of 2009, by the United States Department of Education. Of the almost 9,000 schools in the United States, Mercy is one of only about 120 to be awarded the Blue Ribbon three times.
Mercy's Educational Excellence Program: A Model for Inclusive Education defines inclusive education as one that serves the physically and mentally challenged, empowers talented students, and employs a multicultural perspective across the curriculum.
We reflect with joy on our 60 year tradition of instilling Christian values while providing quality education. The Blue Ribbon award represents the dedicated and collaborative efforts of school leadership, faculty, and families, both past and present, to ensure our mission of excellence in Catholic education.
